Dear Friends,
During the First Convention of European Armenians that you attended in October 2004, you adopted the Charter of European Armenians and also addressed a call to the 25 Heads of States and Governments of the European Union (EU) with regard to the European Summit that would take a decision on the eventual accession of Turkey to the EU.

As you probably know, in its last Report of December 15th, the European Parliament asked from the European Commission and European Council to demand that Turkey recognise the Genocide of 1915. In its final Declaration, the European Council, for the first time, took note of this EP Resolution.

Today, the European Armenian Federation comes again s to invite you to form a new coalition that on one hand would ask the European Parliament to officially commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and on the other ask the European Commission to include the demand for Turkey’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide within the framework of negotiations with Turkey, as expressed by the European Parliament and the different National Parliaments of European Union countries.

We therefore request that you join hundreds of other associations, organisations and institutions in signing the attached European Call.

Lors la Première Convention des Arméniens d'Europe, à laquelle vous aviez participé en octobre dernier, vous aviez adopté la Charte des Arméniens d'Europe et aviez adressé un appel aux 25 chefs d'Etats et de Gouvernements des pays membres de l'Union européenne (UE), en vue du sommet européen qui devait statuer sur l'éventuelle adhésion de la Turquie à l'UE.

Comme vous le savez, dans son rapport du 15 décembre dernier, le Parlement européen a demandé à la Commission et au Conseil européens d'exiger de la Turquie la reconnaissance du génocide de 1915. Dans sa déclaration finale, le Conseil européen, pour la première fois, a pris note de cette résolution du PE.

Aujourd'hui la Fédération Euro-Arménienne s'adresse à vous afin de constituer une nouvelle coalition pour d'une part, demander au Parlement européen de commémorer officiellement le 90ème anniversaire du génocide; et d'autre part demander à la Commission européenne d'intégrer dans son document du cadre des négociations l'exigence de reconnaissance par la Turquie du génocide, exprimée par le Parlement européen et les différents Parlements nationaux des pays de l'Union européenne.
