Build Homes in Armenia with The Fuller Center for Housing Global Builders Program SANTA CRUZ, California – June 8, 2008Armenia – an ancient homeland along the Old Spice Route, a fabled Garden of Eden, the first country to adopt Christianity – is an emerging democracy in need of safe, affordable housing. The Fuller Center for Housing this summer launches its Global Builders program in Armenia to assist those who still struggle from the devastating 1988 earthquake and strive to establish a free economy.

Join a two-week Global Builders team and enjoy the richness of Armenia and its generous people in a remarkable way – by working side by side with families to construct decent housing. Travel Armenia’s historic roads to see pre-Christian sites, 3rd century churches, green pastures, colorful marketplaces, and dramatic mountain gorges. Learn about Armenia's captivating history and culture while importantly, helping a needy family achieve their lifelong dream of a healthy home. You will come away with more than you give, with more than you ever hoped to receive.

2008 Armenia Global Builders trips are scheduled:

July 13- 26: the capital city of Yerevan
August 2-15: the southern mountain gorge region of Yeghegnadzor
October 5-19: the lush northern region of Vanadzor
Experienced Global Village Team Leaders have traveled regularly to Armenia to build homes since 2003. Costs are expected to be approximately $1600-1900, not including airfare. No construction experience is needed. The Fuller Center for Housing-Armenia (FCH-A) is a covenant partner of The Fuller Center for Housing organization of Americus, Georgia. FCH-A is a nonprofit organization that supports community development in Armenia by assisting residents in building and renovating simple, decent and affordable homes. FCH-A is the newest addition to Fuller Center Housing International, having joined on May 2 of this year.
The Fuller Center for Housing International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. It was established in 2005 by Millard and Linda Fuller, who had founded Habitat for Humanity in 1976.
Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, The Fuller Center builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. These houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Fuller Center houses.

The Fuller Center is not a giveaway program. In addition to the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Fuller Center for Housing home and the homes of others.
