French Armenian community requires the criminilization of the Armenian genocide denial

Approximately 600 people of Armenian descent it are gathered, yesterday, in front of the French Senate to listen MPs and senators determined to argue the bill passed by the french National Assembly , in 2006, criminalizing denial of Armenian genocide.

Ara Toranian, new co-chairman of the CCAF, with Mourad Papazian, invited the Armenian community not to slacken its mobilization so that French Republic to take its responsibilities towards the danger posed by the Turkish denial.

During last year adolescent teenagers of Turkish descent had denied Armenian genocide reality in some college in France.

Ara Toranian and Mourad Papazian hopes that the bill will be adopted before year 2011. If the law is adopted, the negation of Armenian genocide will be a punishable offence with one year of imprisonment and 45.000 euros of fine.
