'Islamophobia is a Crime Against Humanity'

Turkey's top negotiator to European Union (EU= accession talks Ali Babacan said on Wednesday that Islamophobia should be accepted as a crime against humanity just as anti-Semitism is seen.

Babacan, who was attending a conference on Turkey's EU membership process, said the hardest thing is for different cultures to cohabitate in the same place.

Reacting to the offensive caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed printed in the European press, Babacan said the caricatures and violent reaction against them undermined understanding between the Islamic world and the West.
