NOVRUZ BAYRAMI CELEBRATIONS HELD IN BAKU
PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV ATTENDED THE FESTIVITIES [March 21, 2006, 18:23:12]<BR>
Novruz Bayrami imparts in our souls the inmost human feelings, brings the people closer and dearer for each other owing to its high moral values, as hospitality, sincerity, kindness, refreshing the world, nature and earth, fulfills the hearts with thirst for creation.

And in this time, the Novruz celebrations pass in the capital of country with numerous festivities.

This time the nature become more beautiful and wonderful, it makes up from the deep winter sleep. Days become longer, nights - shorter. Trees and flowers open are full of fresh buds. The sun is shining and the weather becomes warmer and warmer. It seems, that the weather is glad because of the beginning of spring. And not only the weather, people are glad, too. Novruz is the great public holiday.

On 21st March, the crowded people gathered at the Youth Square in the ancient Icherisheher.

The people cheered the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva and family members, and presented them fresh flowers.

The children in national dress were dancing under the national music and singing along the streets.

President Ilham Aliyev cordially greeted the residents of capital, congratulated them on the Novruz Bayrami.

He, in particular, said:

“It has already been for 15 years that we celebrate this holiday officially. The people of Azerbaijan look forward to every arrival of the holiday of spring, which highly revered along the centuries, this holiday survived in our heart through the hard periods of ordeals. Having preserved our centuries-old customs and traditions, the people today with great pleasure celebrate the holiday of spring that has become a national symbol of the nation’s originality. After regaining the tradition of our national statehood, we regained our state independence, and the Novruz Bayrami, as an inexhaustible thesaurus of our culture, was forever included to the calendar, as one of the official holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In these days of Novruz Bayrami, we revere the memories of the sons of Motherland, who fell for high ideas, state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Motherland”.

President of Azerbaijan spoke of the ongoing processes in country - economic development, socio-political stability established in the Republic, the accomplishments in the oil-gas sector that guarantee bright welfare for the people of Azerbaijan, the large socio-economic projects being realized to better the life in regions.

President Ilham Aliyev reminded the recently held 2nd Congress of World Azerbaijanis, its great importance for consolidation of 50-million Azerbaijanis over the world.

The Premier of Azerbaijan Republic Artur Rasizade, Speaker of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov, head of the President Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, Mayor of Baku Hajibala Abutalibov, MPs, ministers and other officials also attended the festivities.
