06 09 29 - France : Penalization of the negation of the Armenian Genocide

On october 12, 2006, french Socialist party will submit to the Parliament, the text intended to penalize the negation of Armenian Genocide. Indeed, last 18 May, the debates had been stopped and votes
it cancelled. This adjournment had raised the indignation of many French, in particular those of Armenian origin and a great majority of deputies, seeing in this practice a refusal of democracy. The Council of Coordination of the Armenian French Organizations (CCAF) is delighted to see this text submitted again by the votes of the members of Parliament.
This initiative testifies to attachment of the elected officials to the principles of democracy and their refusal to see the French Law undergoing the influence and the interferences of a foreign State.
