NURHAN ARMAN TO CONDUCT AT TUSCANY FESTIVAL

Next month Nurhan Arman, Music Director of Sinfonia Toronto, will return to Italy to conduct the closing concerts of this season's Tuscany Festival. The two concerts are dedicated to the music of Mozart and Busoni, to celebrate the Mozart 250th anniversary year and Busoni's 140th birthday.

Maestro Arman will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica di Grosseto in a program of Mozart arias, Busoni songs and Mozart's Symphony No. 39. The renowned Italian baritone Carlo Morini will be the featured soloist in the arias and songs. The first concert, on November 24, will take place in the Busoni Centre in Empoli, Busoni's birthplace; the second concert will be presented in Grosseto on November 26, bringing the Tuscany Festival to an end.

Maestro Arman is a popular guest conductor in Italy. He has conducted Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, l’Orchestra da Camera Milano Classica, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Orchestra Sinfonico Tito Schipa, Florence Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico. Last summer he appeared at the Settimana Mozartiana and next February he will return for his third set of engagements in Milan, and in March he will cross the Atlantic again to conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini.

His next Toronto performance will be with Sinfonia Toronto on December 9, in a concert titled 'Christmas Fancies'.
