Lie in Turkish press

On last December 19, a young actor, Guillaume Delorme, well known by the French people, was interviewed in Istanbul by Ömür Gedik, a journalist for Hurriyet online into turkish. In this interview, the actor explains that he was selected to play the role of a young Armenian in a future movie entitled “Sword and Ney”, written by several authors and the Turkish journalist Claire Gülthen Evren.

In this love story on 1915 location, a young Armenian named Margos is confronted with his childhood friend, a young Turk named Kerem, for the beautiful eyes of a young girl. Until here all the words are correct. But some lines further, Hürriyet's journalist ask: "What do you think of Armenian-Turkish problem?". For this question, Guillaume Delorme would have mentioned the French bill criminalizing denial of Armenian genocide (*), and concluded, saying: “One made the lawsuit of the Turkish history at the French Parliament . Such a thing is unacceptable. It's an Assembly, not a court of justice! " Then Ömür Gedik said:" What is your opinion? ". The actor would have replied: "I think we do an injustice to Turkey. There was certainly a conflict but not a genocide." Note that the remarks of the French actor were reported by a bilingual translator.

Lie

I have therefore questioned about these issues Guillaume Delorme in Paris on December 26, 2010. Here's what he said to me: "These are words that I did not pronounce. with the newspaper Hurriyet. I fully acknowledge this genocide. I grew up in Marseilles with the Armenians in a kindergarten which was Armenian. My friends are Armenian. It is a speech which I will not be able to hold. It is not in my convictions, nor in my education." Since this development, the actor awaits to read the full script of this film project and determine whether or not he will participate in it. It will be shot in France and Turkey (Van and Erzincan).

(*) On October 12, 2006, French lawmakers approved bill making denial of Armenian genocide a crime. The text must be approved by Senate for final adoption.
